Below is a deed (or option) transfer sworn in Montague, Montague Co. Texas by Lewis Shipp Farrar dated July 15th, 1876 and later filed in Montague, Montague County, Texas on July 15th, 1879.  The parcel was about 10 miles East from the town of Montague on the waters of Clerk (or Clark) Creek beginning at the SW corner of survey of land owned by M.B. Lewis.

It appears that this sale was was of an "Option to Buy" some 160 acres of a surveyed tract owned by M.B. Lewis for the amount of $50.00.  Evidently, Lewis Farrar had purchased and "OPTION TO BUY" some pasture land on April 2nd, 1873.  He must have decided to sell that "option" to Rufus Ivie of Montague Co. for $50.00.

This document dates Lewis Shipp and Malinda Caroline to have moved to Montague County at least by April, 2nd, 1873.

Note:  My copying the deed took up portions of 2 pages in the County Deed Records. The notes on the margin are the references to microfilm reels of "Montague County Texas Records" and are available in the North Texas State University Library in Denton, Texas)
